Merchandise Scouting for Girls


Merchandise can be one of the most powerful tools for an artist. The most effective form of merchandise is that of t-shirts in terms of Scouting for Girls the reasoning for this is target audience, as these are the most important factor for an artists and as Scouting for Girls audience predominately is both sexes who are around 14-25 or fans of the indie, and popular music scene.
Above is an example of two designs of merchandise by the group. This can be very helpful when creating a digipack as even though I will not be creating a t-shirt it helps me understand logo designs, what attacks audiences , and how it differs between sexes in preference of colour, design and message to society and what is excepted for genre as well as conventions and stereotypes.
Both designs shows, how simplicity can be very valuable however these elements are crucial:-
1. The band’s name as one of the main feature in a very bold colour e.g. White
2. The typeface used is geared towards the sex e.g. More circular font for females and more linear for males.
3. Also there is also some kind of reoccurring symbol such as a lady in the case of this band.
4. There is some kind of appropriate slogan ‘she’s so lovely’.
